Ft. Lauderdale, FL -- March 20, 2006 -- Silversea Cruises and National
Geographic Traveler magazine have joined forces to offer an innovative
package of amenities and enrichment presentations aboard Silver Shadow's
World Cruise 2007.
Headlining the program is award-winning
photojournalist Steve McCurry, whose haunting photograph of an Afghan
refugee girl has been described by many as the most recognizable
photograph in the world today.
McCurry is slated to host a series of presentations aboard Silver Shadow
as the 382-guest, ultra-luxury cruise ship journeys on its first segment, "The Empire of Time." This 16-day voyage from January 15 to 31, 2007,
cruises through the Panama Canal, taking guests from Fort Lauderdale to
Santiago to explore the beauty and wonders of South America.
Other highlights of the National Geographic Traveler program include an
exclusive photography exhibit of Steve McCurry's work that will be on
board Silver Shadow throughout the World Cruise.
For this
once-in-a-lifetime travel experience, guests will also receive their own
autographed copy of the book Portraits, a collection of McCurry's
hand-picked photographs of people he has met on his journeys around the
world.
"Our World Cruise offers guests the luxury to pass the time at a leisurely
pace, pursuing the kinds of interests and personally enriching activities
that they may not find the time for in their normal, day-to-day routines,"
said Joseph Proto, Silversea's director of World Cruise and business
development.
"We're delighted to be able to work side-by-side with an
internationally renowned organization like National Geographic Traveler to
enhance our guests' experience with an exclusive enrichment program that
is sure to give them a unique perspective on the geography, people and
cultures of the world they are about to discover on their epic journey."
Steve McCurry, recognized universally as one of today's finest
image-makers, has won many of photography's top awards. Best known for
his evocative color photography, McCurry, in the finest documentary
tradition, captures the essence of human struggle and joy.

Magazine Photographer of the Year. In the same year he won an
unprecedented four first prizes in the World Press Photo Contest, and has
