Five Newly Built Cruise Ships to Sail This Winter from Port Everglades

Florida's Port Everglades, seeking to challenge the Port of Miami for the title of world's busiest cruise port, will add five newly built ships to its line-up this winter starting Oct. 15th with Holland America Line's Eurodam.

In addition to the Eurodam, other newly built vessels that will be sailing from Port Everglades this winter include Ruby Princess, Celebrity Solstice, Carnival Splendor and Independence of the Seas.

Several other ships will be sailing this winter from Port Everglades for the first time, including the Carnival Freedom (which will now be homeported there year-round), the Tahitian Princess and MSC Orchestra.

Port Everglades will get another huge boost next year when Royal Caribbean's huge new Oasis of the Seas begins sailing year-round from the port, which is located partly in Fort Lauderdale and partly in Hollywood.

Royal Caribbean announced a year ago that it plans to homeport both Oasis of the Seas and subsequently its sister ship, Allure of the Seas, in Port Canaveral.
