Passengers on the maiden voyage of the new cruise ship Azamara Journey, first ship of the less-than-a-week-old Azamara deluxe cruise line, are enjoying a free holiday in Bermuda.
More than 700 passengers arrived in Bermuda on the Azamara Journey on May 8th, a day later than originally planned.
The ship, which has just undergone a $19 million refit, had been scheduled to sail on her first voyage Saturday but the company said it didn't think it had the "ambience we wanted to provide to our guests."
So the ship sailed a day late, which is why Azamara Cruises -- the most upscale brand of Royal Caribbean -- decided to give 700 passengers a full refund of the fare they paid plus a $100 onboard credit to help with any expenses they incurred during the predeparture night on land.
The ship had been scheduled to stop in St. George's but because of the delay it went straight to Hamilton. |
