Norwegian Cruise Line
NCL-at-a-Glance
Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) brought revolutionary change to the cruise industry with its introduction of "Freestyle Cruising", which essentially allows you to have a different dining experience each night of your cruise. The line's six ships designed for "Freestyle Cruising" have up to 10 different restaurants, each featuring a diverse an ever-changing menu with no fixed seatings. The three NCL-America ships -- which sail among the Hawaiian Islands -- also feature this approach, though the refurbished Pride of Aloha (formerly the Norwegian Sky) has a couple fewer restaurant choices. The other NCL ships tend to be older and have either been refurbished or expanded via stretching of their mid-sections. But all NCL ships offer a lot of action for the cruise dollar, and these older ships can sometimes be a great bargain.
